We give thanks for the life of Alice Argon, who died of cancer on Sunday, December 13, 2015.

In a letter to the congregation, Pastors Kathleen Reed and Kari Jo Verhulst wrote:

Alice was a devoted member of UniLu and held many leadership roles, especially in worship, where she served as a deacon, intercessor, planner, and composer of the liturgical prayers. Her contributions during Holy Week, especially Good Friday, shaped that season every year. An advocate for theological and spiritual growth in the contemplative vein, she led classes on prayer and participated in countless forums and book groups. Active in the University Lutheran Women’s organization, she will be remembered for her unflagging support of her fellow parishioners experiencing personal struggles or mental health challenges.

The funeral service was celebrated on Friday, December 18 at 10 am here at University Lutheran Church. Donations in Alice’s memory may be made to the Handel and Haydn Society, 9 Harcourt St. Boston, MA 02116.

As Pastors Reed and Verhulst wrote in their letter, “Alice knew well that Jesus is with us in the darkness, sorrow, and anguish; hold fast to that hope, for God is near.”
